It doesn't matter if you bag a mix of molds or are a singularly brand-loyal player, there's no doubt you probably have a favorite disc golf equipment company. Whether it's because of availability, plastic quality, consistency, or the eye candy factor, it's natural to lock in on a manufacturer (or one of a host of third-party labels) and give it more of your attention (and dollars).
Still, there are literally dozens of plastic pressers on the market now, so it got us wondering which one was disc golfers' favorite. We asked that, and a plethora of other questions about disc golfers' habits, in a survey in the UDisc app in October 2022 that garnered over 10,000 responses. We've already shared some of the results in "The Best Disc Golf Brands According to Everyday Players," which takes a look at how well disc golfers think companies are doing in specific areas (plastic quality, consistency, and more). Here, though, we get a look at what disc golfers' hearts had to say when we asked them simply to rank brands by how much they liked them.
With that in mind – and knowing that everyone loves a good list – we humbly present the following compendium of disc golfers' favorite brands by U.S. state. If international is more your thing, we've got the global review in "Disc Golfers' Favorite Disc Brands Worldwide By Country."
That wasn't quite enough, though. Since we're pretty into maps at UDisc, we've also presented the list as a color-coded overlay of the ol' US of A that truly demonstrates one company rules them all (at least for now). We'll also offer a few quick-hitter observations for good measure.
A brief housekeeping note: Astute readers will note the absence of Hawaii, Rhode Island, and the District of Columbia from the list. While there are indeed disc golf courses in each locale, there simply weren't a lot of survey responses from those areas. And as much as we want DGA superfan Tyler in Maui to count (Pipeline, Banzai…we're spotting a trend), we don't want his opinion to count for the entire state. So, for the sake of sanity, we set the minimum number of responses at 10. We'll aim to get those regions covered when we roll out the survey again this fall.
Without further ado...
What Are Disc Golfers' Favorite Companies in Each U.S. State?
We've got your favorites in each state right here – plus the runner-up and third-place finishers for those who appreciate a well-rounded podium. If the third-place column is blank, that means there were not enough responses to create a plurality (or that there was a tie for second).

Quick Takeaways
That's a lot of yellow. Were we surprised that Innova Discs was the favorite in a majority of states? Not at all – the California-born manufacturer has been around since the early 1980s and benefits not only from more time on the course but also its preponderance in big box retailers and sporting goods stores. Admittedly, though, we did not expect it to dominate in the fashion it did, coming in as the favorite in 81% of states. Imagine putting that well from Circle 1! (We can't.)
Kudos to Discmania. The Finnish-born, Colorado-grown manufacturer was the only company besides the sport's titans to take the favorite in a state. Whatever they are doing in Alaska, they should keep doing. Additionally, Discmania far outpaced every other company not named Innova or Discraft, clearly cementing itself as the third-most popular brand in the U.S.

What we're watching: The Simon Effect. With former Discmania poster boy Simon Lizotte moving to MVP Disc Sports after this survey was conducted, 2023 is going to be a true test of loyalties. Will Discmania hang onto third place, or does Simon prove that it's the player, not the plastic, that moves more units?
Honestly, third place was the most interesting. With Discraft coming in as most popular in eight states and streaking away with the runner-up slot in 35 others, it would have made for a relatively similar map, just inverted, to display second place.
Where things really heat up, though, is looking at the column of third favorite brands.
Sure, bronze isn't quite as sexy as silver and gold, but each of the companies represented there can claim elite status and have to feel good about their chances at chipping away at the big dogs as the years go on. Discmania takes the cake, earning third place (or a share of it) in 21 states. But this is where Latitude 64° begins to emerge as a legitimate stateside contender after its strong European showing (see the worldwide version of this post linked in the intro) and Dynamic Discs starts to see its Kansas roots growing outward.
Mainers represent. How about the turnout for the hometown heroes of Thought Space Athletics? The Pine Tree State brand only released its first disc in 2020 and yet has clearly captivated the hearts and bags of local disc golfers. We anticipated a well-established company like Dynamic Discs to perform well in its stomping grounds of Kansas, and obviously MVP Disc Sports taking third in its home state of Michigan was no shocker. But TSA in second in Maine after only a couple years on the market was impressive, home-state advantage or not.
Which brands will make the leap in 2023?
- Swedish darlings Kastaplast have a rabid reddit following and new backing after recently being acquired by House of Discs (a company with the same CEO as Latitude 64°)
- Lone Star Discs made a splash with pro player signings, but it's TBD if that moved the needlle
- Latitude 64° is ahead of the curve in Europe and outpacing its U.S. partners at Dynamic Discs
- Finnish outposts like Clash Discs and Exel Discs weren't on the list in 2022 and are starting to warm up.
