About the course

The course is located on the Quarry Road Trails property and is owned and operated by the City of Waterville Parks & Recreation Department. The course is still under construction and begins with completed turf tees on 1-9 and 18. Temporary gravel tees are on holes 10-17 for the time being until course revenue allows us to add turf tees on the remaining 8 holes for both the long and short tee positions. We are aware of a couple of wet areas on the course and are working to resolve them. Play relief behind any casual water if desired. The course has been designed to utilize the beautiful rolling terrain in the meadows as well as the Nordic ski trails which provides an equal mixture of both open and wooded holes giving players opportunities to work on all aspects of their game from full power drives, to shot shaping, to hitting gaps, to approaching and putting. The course also utilizes sloped greens where ever possible to increase the risk/reward for running longer putts and approaches. Every hole has a long and a short tee position which provides both a Red and a Blue layout at the moment with plans to add a long set of baskets once course revenue allows. This second set of baskets enable us to add White and Gold layouts in the future utilizing the existing long and short tees. The Red layout is our beginner layout and is a little over 5,000’ in total length, while the Blue layout is our advanced layout measuring a little over 8,000’ in total length. When the white and gold layouts come on line White will be the intermediate layout at about 6,500’ and Gold will be the professional layout at about 9,500’. All layouts have the same par for that specific hole, so it makes for an easy way to “handicap” a round between players of different skill levels without modifying the number of strokes. The course has also been designed to easily do a 9 or a 10 hole layout for players that don’t have time to play the full course but still want to get a quick round in, or for those that don’t enjoy playing the tighter and more challenging wooded holes. The 9 hole layout uses holes 1, 3-9, & 18 and totally avoids any fully wooded holes by staying in the Meadow areas while the 10 hole layout uses 1-9, & 18. City-wide ordinance has all public parks in Waterville as “carry in, carry out” and are also smoke free and alcohol free. Dogs must be leashed and cleaned up after.

10/10 course now that the grass has been mowed. Red is really easy, blue is super hard. Awesome, hard drives and good elevation change

This course is a beast. Difficult and lots of hiking. Tough to stay out of long grass on the front. Unfinished back nine is thick but manageable. It offers a pleasant walk through the nordic and snowshoe trails. Needed udisc to find a few teepads, but most "next tee" signs are accurate. Great property/layout. The first tee is 150ft directly behind the yurt.
