This isn't a bad course, but I would hardly classify it as one of the best in Pennsylvania. The fairways are perfectly maintained. The challenges are fair. The scenery is okay. The infrastructure is fine. But what sets apart truly phenomenal courses from any given above average course is a convergence of venue and challenge attained by using the natural setting to make the course feel like a part of it. No course does this perfectly-- especially not Broken Chains with barely any hills, short stints in the woods and too many wide open fairways. Again, I still think the course is really good. However, it hasn't earned its place alongside the truly great standout PA courses. If you choose to play here, you'll have a good time, but temper your expectations a bit in light of that crazy high rating.
