The design philosophy of this course is baffling. I played the “popular” layout, reds to short, and I found it to be totally unsatisfying to shoot a -3. If you are an experienced player I would suggest playing any other layout. The turf tees are wonky at best, awful at their worst. Once you get to holes 5-18, you will struggle to choose your lines because there are so many pencil trees you feel as if your beat strategy is huck-for-luck. Then you will encounter so many sub-200ft holes, birdies will feel like a charity handout. Udisc is not mapped to obvious changes, distances are unreliable. I really struggle to understand the overall rating of this course. I doubt it plays much better from the other tees. Skip for travelers.

Excellent course! Wide variety of tees and multiple pin locations allow you to make it a long, grueling round or a quick after-work round. Some long walks between holes and some serious elevation changes, but no real spots to get lost. And well maintained fairways! Definitely worth a trip if you're in MD!
@no1173
Nice course. A lot of thick grass/brush off the fairway. A number of holes need a few trees removed to create lines. Currently you pick a small gap and hope you hit it.
@jdgreen916
If you like courses where you play a 300ft hole with no real fairway, and then walk 500ft to the next one. This course is for you. Fortunately there’s lots of shade and plenty of parking.
@morienewman
Teepads are lumpy and not level. Most fairways are poke and prays; most baskets are completely blind from the Green tees. One or two blind shots is fine, but every hole being a complete mystery is just poor design. Has the bones of a good course but it’s not great in its current form.
@jgeiman
I’m rating the blue/green layout. Tee pads are ok at best. In many cases there is NO fairway to speak of. I love woods courses, but this one is a little out of hand. In the very least there should be some distinguishable lines. In many fairways (looking at you holes 5 and 13) there isn’t. It is a challenge. But to make it over 4 there are some improvements to be made. Played again for a second time on the green to white layout. You need fairways. Even with woods courses. I don’t understand
@jakedasnake12
Great course! Super well maintained! Shoutout the GOAT!
@beezlemvb
Technical wooded course on the shorter side but lots of fun shots to be had. The course is a labor of love for the locals and Fredrock which shows in how well the course is maintained. A gem in MD for sure!
@cerealman
A fun and fantastic course with tons of variety and multiple layout options that range from novice-appropriate to devilishly difficult. High score separation potential in a magnificent setting. Crushed gravel teepads are rutted and uneven in spots. For my more detailed review, visit www.dgcoursereview.com.
@mazzie
Constant work being done to improve the course. A bit slick in some muddy areas.
@tony
Beautiful course. Come ready for a hike and some technical golf.
@proflowery
Great course! Lives up to the hype. Must play in MD
@ejm9978
Gem of a short technical wooded course. Well marked. Bring your hiking boots. Only thing missing is concrete pads
@cattyheather
Love the shady hike through the woods vibe. Makes playing on a hot day bearable. Only issue is footing between holes is fairly treacherous in some areas, especially when it is wet, which is often.
@cbleiler
At times it was hard to find the next tee. There were arrows to the next pad, but they were not always easy to see. A few times the arrows on the bottom of the basket were Pointing the wrong way. Otherwise the course is fantastic. LOTS of UPHILL hiking.
@chrispreperato
A really fun technical wooded course. It reminds me a lot of Seneca SP both in terms of hole layout and the wooded walks between holes. The only real negatives are the first few T pads (which seem like a park restriction and not a design choice), and a couple of holes with a few too many trees in the fairway(5, 10, and 17 come to mind)
@kyleholmes
Great course, well marked. Good mix of open and tech. My favorite in the area next to McKeldin
@crushepatio
This course is pretty tough. It's both tough on the body to navigate due to elevation changes and tough on the throws as there are a lot of trees guarding the fairways. Very fun! I like that they have water coolers around the course (they weren't filled when I went). Believe the hype that this course is a hike though!
@shecky444
Great course. One of the best around. Definitely some hill climbs but worth it for the views and the amazing layout.
