I have played 1,132 different courses. In my opinion, Kodiak is better than Black Bear. Blackbear is deuce or die; Kodiak has legit par 4s, and a par 5. Kodiak is more worthy of being in the UDisc top 5 in Maine.
@rpgaetjens
2 stars until the fairways are cleared of the dozens of overhanging branches blocking several of the fairways. Diamond in some pretty deep rough at this time. Could be there best course.
@stickfigure1
Early season on The Kodiak. Such a great course, it weathered the winter well!!!

It might just be because I played well, but I'm in the minority in that I think this course is just as good as the other 2 on the property. The par 3s are super challenging, the par 4s are really well designed 2 short holes if you have between 250 and 300 ft of distance. I don't throw very far and even the par 5s looked eaglable. The rough could be cleaned up and some of the low hangers really destroy the lines, but I understand why they focus course maintenence on the high traffic courses. Tee pads are nice. Signage is fine. Elevation is 5 stars and a highlight of thr property as a hole.

Kodiak - Lots of deadwood on sides of fairways/rough. Not a lot of variety of hole layout for longer holes on front 9. Hole 18 Barbed wire in center rough area right before opening to basket
@willboll
Challenging, but not fun. Very few memorable shots. Pars Are silly. Back nine is much more open, with reasonable fairways, reasonable pars.
@beejmc
Simply put, NOT a fun course. Good throw? Directly to jail. Great throw? Still have work to do. Perfect throw? Do it again then. Bad throw? Oh boy….. you’re gonna have a bad time. This course has one memorable hole, cause the other 17 will blend together as a winding trail to disappointment. It’s not a woods course…. It’s a TRAIL course. Long for the sake of length… this course offers nothing if value to anyone looking to actually be challenged. It’s not difficult. It’s unfair.
@shanekirkland
Absolutely loved the course. Some pars are really soft and others are really tough, but that doesn't matter. This course will test your ability to pipe far drives down narrow fairways. The holes are tight, but the lines are fair. There are like 2 holes that I think could use a little more thought where even a perfect tee shot might leave you pinched, but I'd highly recommend the course if you've got the distance for it.
@iguy243
The courses are fun, the upkeep needs attention. I wish there wasn’t so many dead sticks and logs to navigate on the kodiak. There needs to be more effort from a grounds crew.
@calebbryantdisc
Probably my favorite course I’ve played in Maine. Truly difficult with real pars, challenges your game but is also scorable if you hit your lines. Could use some clean up in some areas, but solid course overall
@tlap802
Loved this course. Amazing layout and the best course at woodland valley imo.
@robthepope86
Played in the winter so I reserve judgement. Plenty of benches trash cans and signage. It flows nicely and utilizes the land well. Elevation up and down; 9 is a doozy the first time. Good pads if cleared of snow and ice. Very tight and challenging fairways. Good challenge for a 900 level player!
@elijah10
Incredible! One of my favorite courses I. Maine. Really awesome mix of tight fairways and long holes with elevation changes and different shot shapes. Stay in fairways! Risk/reward on almost every hole.
@daveington
Pars are way off, but excellent course. There are no true 3-shot (par 5) holes. With it being the marquis layout on the property, here are the pro pars that would make for a challenging par 64 Gold layout: Hole 1 - par 3 Hole 2 - par 4 Hole 3 - par 4 Hole 4 - par 3 Hole 5 - par 3 Hole 6 - par 4 (course par is 5) Hole 7 - par 4 (course par is 5) Hole 8 - par 4 (course par is 5) Hole 9 - par 4 (course par is 5) Hole 10 - par 3 Hole 11 - par 3 Hole 12 - par 3 (course par is 4) Hole 13 - par 4 (course par is 5) Hole 14 - par 3 (course par is 4) Hole 15 - par 4 (course par is 5) Hole 16 - par 3 Hole 17 - par 4 Hole 18 - par 4
