Loved the layout I played, I imagine it is a lot more fun in winter when everything is dead. I would rate it 4.1

Bumped to 4 stars! The ongoing land clearing work at this property is simply incredible. The course is borderline unrecognizable, and in a GOOD way. Almost the entire property has been cleared of anything that’s not a tree. Log piles, thorn bushes, brush piles, leaves, stumps, you name it, they’re all gone. Most importantly, this means you now have OPTIONS off the tee that were previously simply nonexistent. You can also scramble from the rough instead of pitching out. Formerly, there were places in this course that were literally inaccessible because the brush was so thick and now they’re completely clear. It’s also worth noting that the course plays about 4-6 strokes easier now. Most of the pars probably need to revert back to where they were after the redesign in 2023. So, what will it take to make this a five star course? Move. The. Baskets. Off. The. Slopes. Martin’s Mill Layout Hole 2: add a mando right of the ravine and move the basket up and out to where your second shot is more than a 50 foot pitch up the hill. Or put the basket up by hole 9’s tee. Heck, move it towards hole 3 and make it a par 5 if you have to. Anything has to be better than throwing a chip shot into the stream, tossing 50 feet up the hill under the basket, and dropping in your par. This hole is so lame. Hole 7: move the basket up and to the right of hole 8’s tee. Why are we punishing good shots by forcing people to climb down into a ravine with A ROPE? It’s downright dangerous and makes the hole unplayable for anyone who isn’t physically fit. Move the basket up to the flat so good shots are rewarded with the opportunity to walk around the ravine. There’s already a path to the right that intersects hole 3 and leads right there without climbing down into the ravine. It also presents the opportunity to run or lay up a scary comebacker if you go long. Hole 8: you can keep the basket on the slope for some variety if you must, but the entire ravine needs to be OB. It’s not safe to play from those slopes. I am thrilled to see the ongoing improvements at this property. Now more than ever I’m optimistic that this course can eventually become the gem that it has always had the potential to be.
