Fun little city park course with some shot variety and wooded lines

Great wooded track. Lots of variety between the 3 sets of tees. Some baskets hard to see.

Enjoyable elevation change woods course. Tight fairways but with very clean “rough/woods”. Off fairway shots (discs) can be easily spotted (not lost), and in many places able to recover for par. Slight critique would be that gray baskets are hard to spot from tee pads. And, hole design seemed similar from hole to hole (pattern of one up hill, one down hill, and some flat in between). Maybe brighter color painted baskets (easy fix). And, while I am not suggesting change in course (fun as it is), a greater variety in hole design would push rating near 5; like a longer par 4, or shorter mando with tighter turns (both left or right) would increase variety. Having played on nearly 70 courses, I definitely place it in my “top 10.”.

Beautiful terrain and challenging shots. Some very tight lines with straight shots and anhyzers needed. Not digging the tee pads. Good concrete, but they are the size of a diving board, like 2’x7’ and ok for one specific type of run up. Not James Conrad approved.

Teepads are very small, fun course with good variety otherwise!

Short course but at least 1/2 the baskets can't be seen from the pad.

One of my favorite courses in the triangle. Mostly shots that test accuracy versus distance, but there are a couple that require sneaky strength! Teepads are quite narrow but generally long enough for the called for hole

Great instructions to specific tees. Especially spray paint color on trees! That's helpful!

Only had time to play the first 9 holes. Loved it. Fun shot shaping. Hole 1 is a fun ace run, along with a few others. You get to use your putters, midranges and fairway drivers to carve up lines. Easy to trip over rocks with leaves on the ground. I would come back and play this one! If I was local I’d play it often.

Carolina technical trees. Pretty well marked, moderate elevation changes. Low spots are a little muddy after rain but that's basically every central NC wooded course. Plenty of challenge from longer tees but totally approachable for all players from the short tees.

If the tee pads were upgraded to larger than 3’x7.5’ and baskets replaced, Valley Springs would be one of the best courses in the Triangle. Until then, it’s mostly to be avoided purely because of the terrible tee pads.

Updated review: Such a shame Durham Parks & Rec doesn’t care about the course. Very solid course design, especially for its age. Widening the tee pads by 2 feet would make all the difference in this course. You’d have way more traffic, because most people avoid this course due to the pitiful teepads.

Old school golf does not equal easy golf. Wish the tees were wider but this is a great and challenging track.

Lovely technical wooded hilly course. Could use bigger/better tee pads

Serene wooded course with straight holes and good signage. Almost threw wrong direction on hole 5 bc sign didn’t dictate direction. But enjoyable and peaceful course. No one there in morning so had whole course to myself. Nice 22 hole design with multiple layouts and variety for skill levels. Great totem pole on back 9 as a signature piece. A must play in the Durham area.
