About the course

(If you would like to join a group dedicated to getting a course installed at The Park Hill Golf Course, please reach out to the course contact, Max) This is an entire 19-hole course using only 8 baskets. This casual course is on private property, so please be responsible and represent the sport well. One bad apple could lose this course for everyone, so don't be that apple. I know it's not ideal to be throwing to the same basket more than once, but I promise that if you are creative and open-minded, this can be a fantastic place to practice and play. Please stay off all Denver School of the Arts property (everything west of the main sidewalk). Respect the public, and be patient and flexible. Have fun!!!

History

The Mosaic Community Campus in East Denver’s Park Hill neighborhood is a 25-acre site with a history spanning over a century. Its roots date back to 1888, when Reverend Robert Cameron chartered the Colorado Women’s College (CWC) to provide higher education for women. Construction began on what was then open prairie, and the first building, Treat Hall, opened in 1909. For decades, the campus expanded as the state's first women-only institution, even undergoing a brief name change to Temple Buell College in 1967 before reverting to its original name in 1972. Financial challenges led to a series of institutional shifts starting in 1981, when CWC merged with the University of Denver (DU). DU utilized the site as its Park Hill Campus, notably housing the Sturm College of Law from 1982 until 2000. In 2000, the property was sold to Johnson & Wales University, which established a branch known for its culinary and hospitality programs. The university operated there for two decades until announcing its closure in mid-2020. In June 2021, a partnership including the Urban Land Conservancy, Denver Public Schools, and the Denver Housing Authority purchased the campus to prevent private redevelopment and displacement. Following a six-month community process, it was officially renamed the Mosaic Community Campus in 2022 to reflect its new life as a diverse hub. Today, the campus features four renovated historic dormitories providing 154 affordable housing units, alongside educational tenants like the Denver School of the Arts and St. Elizabeth’s School. The disc golf baskets were first installed in 2011 but required some attention to keep the baskets from being removed by the new land owners after 2020. After founding and running the Cornell College Frisbee Club for 3 years Max Lundt returned home to Denver and wanted to save this local spot so the redesign was posted onto UDisc and the Park Hill Disc Golf Club (PHDGC) was founded in 2024 (now with over 100 members) performed a total redesign to incorporate 19 different holes utilizing both forehand and backhand shot shapes. Here in CO we don't have too many tight lines but at Mosaic its expected to hit lines off the tee and have touch coming onto the greens because this place is plagued with OB. Enjoy the campus and continue to respect the space.

Surprisingly good for an in the city course. Great use of the space including sidewalks creating OB areas.

The grass between has a lot of dog poop and it looks like local residents aren’t picking up after pets since they are all concentrated near the building entrances. Pick it up people, this is a school.
