Absolutely beautiful fun course. Walks between holes can be a drag but this course is a diamond in the rough!

Visiting family from Iowa. Loved the course and the obvious care that goes into it. Only gripe I would have is navigation. Arrows on baskets pointing to the next tee and signs letting people know where to go when the walk between holes is long (like hole 9 to 10). Now that I've played it, it's not as big of a concern, and I will come back for sure.

Mix of wooded and open course layout with a little bit of elevation. Nicely maintained fairways and walking areas. Distance between holes is a little far, but the nice scenery makes up for it.

Some long walks between tees. Yellow mids and red long.

Tremendous course. The Long layout with full OB is a world-class track, complete with a Midwest clown-mouth ala hole 7 at Winthrop Gold. In the summer I'm sure this course needs to be beaten in further, but it is unbelievably pleasant in the fall.

Beautiful course, wind gets wild and between every tee pad is a quarter mile walk

Great course. Very well kept! Cart friendly on all but one hole, and it’s an easy carry up a little. Can’t wait to play again, and do a little fishing after!

Many of the signs don't match the pins, no smart layout on udisc makes it hard to know which pin is which. Decent course. Mostly open.

Tough to find, but worth it! Completely pristine upkeep and great variety between the front 9 (long and sweeping) and back (very wooded and technical).

I’ve played this course any number of times - we camp at Lawson a lot…but I’ve never left a review. Let me start by saying the upkeep at this place is always immaculate. You can tell the city really cares about Lawson Lake and the disc golf course that wraps around it. Every time I come here there are cedar trees cleaned up, new drainage ditches dug, tall grass/weeds killed off or mowed back, etc. There is some ivy on the edges, but stay in the fairway and it’s not a problem ;) There are so many cool holes out on the course…I just wish there weren’t several questionable holes to pair with them. First and foremost, there are a few new long pins (at least that I’ve not played before) and so what is on UDisc doesn’t match up with the signage on the course making the pars and general scorekeeping somewhat irrelevant. The blue pads and red pins challenge the advanced/pro level player with distance while making sure to keep your accuracy in check. There is a Winthrop bamboo hole replica that is sweet. The elevation on hole 16 makes for one of the coolest holes out there, especially to the red pin. A redesign on a few holes (speaking to long pads and pins here) would really put this course into 5 star category for me. 1 - straightforward but good warmup hole. Could use a long pin up and around the corner. 2 - great par 5. 3 - air it out over the campers! Suggestion is to clean up the base of the cedars by the red pin like has been done on the fairway cedars. 4 - great par 4! It’s open, but you have to make an accurate (and long) upshot to birdie. 5 - stock hyzer but surprisingly long and uphill. 6 - fun, but why is the long pin never in the ground? 7 - cool dogleg with mando. Really would rather see a long pin across the walking path on this hole in lieu of hole 9. 8 - pretty dull, slight dogleg uphill that’s just a connector hole. Tall grass OB can add challenge to blind tee shot. 9 - bamboo hole lookalike. Don’t ruin a good thing by putting in a long pin and ignoring the triple mando! 10 - fun dogleg with downhill elevation to the short pin. Long pin all the way to 1 tee is unnecessary and makes for a LONG haul back to 11. 11 - love the addition of the red pin here. Try the sneaky route in the woods or go over it all… 12 - Great hole with low ceiling. The tee shot doesn’t change much for either pin. 13 - this is a connector hole that is open, short and I’d much rather see 12 turned into a par 4 and swallow this hole entirely (more on this later). 14 - one of the best shots on the course. Air it out and hit a shallow green before going deep into the woods. 15 - stock hyzer but blind and so accuracy is key to have birdie look. 16 - great uphill shot!!! Love this hole. 17 - no real way to access the pin without a poke and hope. 18 - what the actual heck happened here? Long pad is gone. Short pad and yellow pin is a standard 150 foot upshot? It’s not a good way to finish a course or a round. Turn 17 into a par 4 and swallow this hole too. It is beyond needed…

It sure is nice out here, there is lots of variety, and I imagine that as you come back and play it more it gets better… but if you’re playing it for the first time? There are way too many blind shots, getting off of the fairway (even 5 feet) sucks to get your disc back, and there are lengthy walks between holes. That being said, it is beautiful and peaceful out here.

Don’t go off the fairway. No course punishes you more if you do.

good and muddy right now with it freezing and thawing. Good course just thought 17 and 18 could have been better with the land they have.

Excellent course, one of the best in the KC area. Accuracy is a must off of most tees due to the fairways being lined with trees and knee high shule. A fairly lengthy front nine with some shorter holes to finish out. Multiple tee pads and a few holes with multiple pins.
