@davidnordquist
Very technical and lots of mosquitos this time of year. I enjoy the options though.
@phuznutz
Dated and nearly derelict. This place was so highly recommended, but it's in rough shape. Most tee pads are on the wonk, lots of tall grass/weed patches in fairways, old Mach X baskets. Really sad that a club "supported" course with university backing is in that rough of shape. I bet it was great when it went in, but it seems to have been barely attended to in recent years. Maintenance had been less than minimum to keep it in good playing order.
@timmytoyota
Needs a mowing and some cleanup on the fairways. Multiple baskets and tee pads on most holes that are not in the best shape. Could be a super fun course if maintained well. Also a bit if a challenge finding your way around the course.
@booyah
Some signs missing plus when multiple hole tee pads close together, it would be easy to get on the wrong hole. Otherwise fun course with many shots. Parking isnโt clear, even on google maps.
@pgroot
Well worth the visit when in the area, fun, challenging course.
@slacker36
Loved it.
@bill
Ignore *PARKING* the sign at the entrance saying you need a permit; thereโs a sign by hole one saying you donโt if youโre playing disc golf. Course needs better signage, otherwise itโs a great course.
@dwstark
Ames, Iowa has a gem. Yall better be grateful.
@riley2000
Some holes overlap with each other. Itโs a good technical course!
@cunningham73
I love that there are 2 tees & 2 baskets on every hole. Played short to long (red to gold), and it was shorter than I was expecting. Only a couple holes call for a distance driver. Mostly mids and fairways. Couple putter drives. Front 9 is very short, but back 9 stretches it out a little more. You need forehand and backhand shots here. The course has well defined fairways due to lots of trees, but the holes are packed tight. Tees and pins pretty close to each other on some holes. Tee pads are very good. Baskets are Mach X. It's cart friendly. Hole 3 has a large set of stairs (down), but I rolled my Zuca down them very easily. There's a portapotty at the entrance and several trash cans throughout. Overall a good woods course, but I'd recommend the long-long layout if you want more of a challenge.
@marciniak1
Best course in Ames and the gold layout can be challenging with some of the tunnel shots and low hanging branches. Overall a great course with a lot of replay value.
@harleydude64
Super fun course, they keep it in good shape. Multiple tees and painted Mach X baskets.
@trreese
Big fan of how many trash bins there are throughout the course. Very well maintained fairways and the rough is fairly trimmed down as well. A lot of fun tunnel shots.
@jugdecook
If you are in the area, you need to play this course. Nicely laid out and decent signs. They have cleared out most of the downed trees. Super cool, old, big trees. Great hike through some really cool woods.
@craiger69
Nice. Makes me want to go to college again, this time in Iowa. Beautiful, nice fairways, lots of big trees, two tee pads and baskets for each hole.
@cydisc11895
A little muddy in spots, but overall good shape.
