About the course

Experience incredible views and cool mountain air while playing at 10,350’ above sea level on a beautiful mountain disc golf course at the summit of Red River Ski Area. The course features the original recreational layout with 18 holes and a tournament layout with 21 holes. With tee pads for both pro and amateur players, this truly is a course that all can enjoy. The course takes advantage of terrain features as it descends and climbs around the ski trails and aspen groves. While the course is maintained with mowed areas around tee pads, baskets, and walking paths, full-width fairways are only occasionally mowed, leaving the course in a more natural and unmanicured state for the best mountain disc golf experience. The Sunny Side front nine is a great start for beginner disc golf players or those who only have time for a quick round and want to experience a mountain course. The Sunny Side front nine begins with a scenic tee shot under or over the Copper Chair down the Kit Carson ski trail. The remaining eight holes on the front nine are shorter, most playing slightly uphill on ski trails. The Cracker Jack back nine plays slightly uphill on a ridge through hole twelve. Beginning at hole thirteen, players enter a large prominent aspen grove. With narrower fairways, longer holes, and considerable elevation changes, the Cracker Jack back nine challenges even the best disc golf players. Many players consider the Cracker Jack back nine some of the most challenging mountain holes they have played. Each year Red River Ski Area hosts the Drew Judycki Memorial, a PDGA sanctioned B-Tier event. During the tournament, the 21 hole tournament layout is played with two rounds over two days. Whether practicing for the tournament or looking for a longer round of disc golf, the additional three holes are permanent and always available to play. The course is free to play, but access requires a hike to the summit via a 3.5 mile hiking trail or a Scenic Summer Chairlift ticket. Discounted tickets for the Scenic Summer Chairlift are available to current PDGA members with proof of membership. The Tip Restaurant at the summit has beginner friendly disc rental sets available. Rental sets include a fairway driver, midrange, and putter, all from Dynamic Discs. Scorecards and maps are available at the Tip Restaurant. The Lift House, in town at the bottom of Platinum Chair, is home to our disc golf pro shop. We stock a wide selection of Dynamic Discs, Latitude 64, Westside Discs, and Prodigy. Custom stamped discs with the Red River logo are also available. Disc golf bags and other small accessories are also available. Scenic Summer Chairlift tickets, scorecards, and maps are available at the Lift House.
