About the course

The original in-ground 9 holes were placed early in the Fall of 2015. The original 9 holes played counterclockwise around Mallory Lake and in between some of the academic buildings. Each of the original 9 baskets came from the 2015 world championship which was held on Morain State Park, Slippery Rock University, and Deer Lakes Disc Golf Courses. In 2018, the course was redesigned by Pat Govang and J. Gary Dropcho. J. Gary was the tournament Director for the 2015 World Championship, and Pat Govang was the tournament director for the PDGA sanctioned Highland Games played on temporary baskets in 2003, 2004, and 2005. The course redesign included the Front 9 (Lowlands) as well as the back 9 (Highlands). Since 2015, the course has seen 17 Disc Golf Tournaments, with the local community looking forward to the future of the PennWest Edinboro Disc Golf Course! Please be sure to pick up free parking pass during Fall and Spring semester from campus police. The Royal Scots Disc Golf Links comprises two 9-hole layouts. The Lowlands begins behind the Pogue Student Center and plays around Mallory Lake, highlighting the beauty of campus. It concludes near the back patio of the Pogue Center. The Highlands is located throughout the Doug Watts Cross Country Course. This course features three tee locations at each hole to appeal to players of all skill levels and three pin locations for a variety of challenges.

The front nine also knows the lowlands is mostly flat the fairways are all short grass, but sometimes in the year there may be puddles, mud, snow, and ice. The back nine also knows the Highlands is more like a hike in the woods with some grass fairways and elevation change. Must watch out for roots sticks logs, woodchuck holes, along with seasonal puddles, mud, snow, and ice..
