This was the first course in PA and that alone counts for quite a lot in my book. The course starts out playing in and around a running campground. I can imagine that certain times there is activity in the way, but we didn't have any bump ins with campers. The first 18 is basically putter golf but by no means is it "easy". Yes, every hole has birdie potential but there are trees and bushes in just the right places to make this no gimme. I often found myself wanting one more crack at a hole because the features play "defense" well. It never feels like holes in a field either. There are some wooded holes in this section and many that are just tucked into treelines for creative and fun shots. The back nine of the course walks back into the woods and follows what seems to be old tractor paths. The holes here are night and day to those first few, demanding some razor lines with plenty of punishment in the roughs. The holes could use a bit of trimming and a few less trees to make them more fair, but by no means are they impossible to par. The first set of baskets are homemade, but I never had a problem with catching and in fact it was cool that the top band was playable as discs would hit and fall. There are no tees to speak of here. There are markers, but some holes don't even have those. I found navigation very confusing. Using this app the holes didn't match up at all up front and I got lost more than once. The back 9 doesn't have the same issues. There are no tee signs really anywhere and only rudimentary navigational help.

I gave this a rating bump up because it is the oldest course in Pennsylvania. It’s worth playing for the historic value. Play the OG 1-18 with a frisbee. The Major Con is that the holes map needs to be redone. About 12 holes are marked as way too short. The other 9 holes, 19-27, should really be listed as a separate course because their length and character is totally different. All of these tee signs need to be redone because some are black with mold and some are missing. Overall, even the OG 18 add surprising challenges. This course is worth playing, for the historic value, if nothing else.
