At the top, the expectations get higher. I've been fortunate to play 20+ udisc state #1 courses, and LBC definitely belongs in this club. That said, a few areas that knocked my score down and could be improved. First, wayfinding could be improved, even to have signs marking where the course starts, which is not obvious from the road without Udisc, and between several holes where there is a long walk. A second critique is course design. Though fair and challenging, the distances are pretty repetitive, and feel like all are either 320-370 ft par 3s or 550-750 par 4s. Lots of reviews call it a bomber course, which I'm not sure is fair, but true it's hard to score low without 375-400 ft of distance. Given the woods and hills, a couple 230-260' technical throws, perhaps on hole 5 or 6, would have mixed things up. Finally, as a LHBH pref thrower and as someone who appreciates when all throwers are challenged by a variety of shot shapes, fewer left to right shot shapes would strengthen the course design, especially in the woods. Hole 7 (not in the woods) is a great example. The LHBH line is a tricky turnover which I liked, but the basket placement on the left of the trees by the water means the RHBH is just hyzer-hyzer-bird. If the basket was on the right it would challenge the righty to throw forehand or turnover (I get that it would also be close to the next tee pad, but that can be fixed). Let me repeat that this is a great course, and I'd be thrilled to get to play it often. Also, a bit of a pass since this is in a state park, but that makes wayfinding all the more essential. Well done to the locals for this wonderful course; I hope development continues!
