--TLDR: Boring course overall. --Caveats: 1. I used to play this course years ago pre-UDisc. I was much more forgiving of low quality courses then, and I still gave up on this course for years, especially on account of the flooding problem. 2. I wanted to give this course an honest chance, but just didn't enjoy it enough to bother finishing a full round. 3. I'm an out-of-towner who visits this area a couple times each year. And while Jokerst (only other course nearby) is not a challenging course, it is exceedingly more fun to play imo. 4. I'm spoiled for choice in my home region of Kansas City. --Details: It starts by throwing over a wide open field. Then just after it gets interesting (#3), you throw to a basket that's @40 feet into overgrowth and the basket itself is nearly overtaken (#4). And then you're right back to mostly flat open field play, and throwing to a basket laying down on the ground (#5). There is one interesting hole shortly after (#7). Then you're just blasting your drive over a wide open field again (#8). Holes 9 and 10 baskets are just inside the tree line along the creek at the very end of their open field fairways, and then hole 11 gives you trees off the tee into yet another wide open field until you have to throw uphill through a tunnel at the end (best part of the hole). I quit here, as I threw to the wrong gap (made this mistake in the past as well, oof) to go uphill to the basket (there is basically a duplicate of this hole). This brings me to a frustrating point--course flow. It has always been an issue at this course, but it seems to have gotten worse with updates. I recognize that designing a course can be challenging, and I'm not familiar with the potential challenges presented by the local municipality. I appreciate the attempt here. But walking vast areas to the next tee unnecessarily or easily throwing to the wrong basket becomes very frstrating on wide open 600-1000 feet fairways, especially when there are also vast areas of untapped potential, as is now present among the lower holes with all of those now mature trees. It appears that the design favors hundreds of feet of wide open air. I know by dipping, I missed a couple of the best holes that actually do utilize the woods and river line (previously my favorites). I just got so bored before getting to them. I'll be sticking to Jokerst on my future visits.

I’m honestly just really disappointed. The city lets you create a disc golf course in a beautiful park that’s popular, you’re given the opportunity to introduce people to the sport and this is what you come up with? The course isn’t that bad but a huge missed opportunity. There are good holes, holes that need a little work and then there are holes that are head scratchers that will bait you to lose a disc.

Good place to work on airing it out. Grass was all short and rough not too bad in mid-November. Not the best maintained but very playable right now. Seems like the red pads flood layout is the only one people play and it’s still a 3 mile walk to play the whole course. Had the course to myself which was nice. Overall could use a bit of a redesign and better upkeep although the scoring separation is probably decent

This is not a beginner friendly course. Crazy layout and some of it’s flooded. Good layout for some holes. 16 and 18 are terribly designed going off of where the signage tells you to go. Could use some love but I would try it again.

This course is a beast. The open holes are long and require accuracy. The wooded holes are extremely technical.

Course has lots of distance, but signage and directions are pretty bad. A game of hide and seek with tees and baskets. If udisc did not exist would be very hard to play a round as a first timer.

Poor course design and the floodplain is treacherous (about half the course). A redesign could make this a lot better

It was fun but not sure I would ever choose to play here again.

I think this course has a ton of potential. I played a shortened layout since a couple holes were under water and I had limited daylight, but most of the holes I got in were really well designed and there appeared to be a decent mix of open and wooded holes. It did seem like they could have done a better job using the cool area of trees in the big flat part of the course; in my opinion that area is one of the most unique and memorable spots on the land and it isn’t utilized as much nor as well as it could be. Overall I would say this course is definitely worth the play if it hasn’t rained in awhile/the ground is very dry, and with proper maintenance this could legitimately be around 4.5 quality.

Nov 2023 update. Bumped from. 5 to 2.5 star. Ok course to play in the fall/winter Original summer 2021 review Yuck. So much of this course needs help. Usually overgrown or a swamp for large sections. Really this course needs to be removed. Too much effort to maintain.

Great course overall but a long one! There is zero benches at any of the tee shots which is a pain. No directional signs and just a handful of tee box signs are readable.
