A top park course along the I81 corridor. We played the Staunton DGC layout measuring just shy of 6400’ as we wanted to hopefully avoid the classic short park layout. Great shot variety requiring a lot of different shots. Baskets varied on this layout as it was a mix of baskets, but no crazy spit outs on any of them. Tee pads were almost perfect on every hole, a few had some runoff from rain, but were still manageable. Front 9 flows well. Back nine is quite a bit spread out and some of the paths are grown in with no evident signs. UDisc maps helped us find the way though. Some of the back nine is impossible to mow and has to be weed wacked which means it probably doesn’t happen often. Overall a surprisingly great course, highly recommend the layout we played as I think the shorts could be a bit repetitive.
@gslominski
Fantastic municipal course. Shorts are good challenges for Novice and Rec players.
@originalgtoler
Super wooded and extremely tight lines. Got tired of the overgrowth and 0 tolerance for poor shots.
@treebanger27
Course has a lot of fun shots, but the tee areas and signage still need a lot of work. Could not navigate without UDisk.
@barrettbowen
Played the longs - very fun course! Good mix of very wooded, slightly wooded, and open holes. Even open holes often had a couple trees next to the teepad you have to miss. Played tough but fair with opportunities for birdies or bogeys on most hole. Hole 17 long basket was missing or we couldn’t find it the day we played.
@vsmith
Lots of different shot shapes needed to score well. Tight fairways with defined lines where being slightly off can get punished. Loved the design and it’s well taken care of in an area that seems like it can get overgrown quick.
@gchristas20
Really fun park course with a good mix of shots. Definitely be stopping in again to try the longs!
@ihaveanoseynose
Definitely a fun course. Good tees, good short baskets (long baskets are dga mack5 - all silver). Maps are pretty good. Each hole is very different, including short to long.
@davidjeastman
Beautiful course, well laid out. Great variety of shots. Signage definitely needs to be updated.
@csgwartney
Great course, there’s a tree down going across the back of a tee box but it isn’t to much in the way. Love this course.
@mikelennett
Redesigned since the last time I played this course. It's a fun course to play, but not every hole directs you to the next pad and some of the next pads were very long distance from the previous basket. I would not have been able to find them if I was not with other players.
@babachruma
Nice and challenging mostly woods course. UDisc is essential for finding all the tees/holes, though
@jimriner
Course should be labeled Montgomery Hall Park. This could easily be a five course. Non grass fairways not maintained. Can be diffiult to find disc in Spring with growing field areas. Otherwise very pretty and diverse course.
@morgcl
Love the course, layout, topography and different shot shapes. The rough in a lot of places is just too rough. Needs some love and it could be great.
@mwcamp02
Hands down the best course in the area. Has a great mix of shots that really help develop your game.
@corwing
Signage was misleading. A bit scattered with the trees. But the holes were very fun and technical. We had a great time!
@staterob228
Could use some better pin locations.
@sambrewer
Solid course, some tricky rough if you get off your line
