@tbriceno
Next time I'll play the blue layout. This is a demanding and extremely fun course. LOTS of up and down.
@link032210
Enjoyable course. Expect a lot of hiking up and down. A few baskets are near the water. Only downside currently are a few downed trees in the way of paths between baskets, but it wasn't too bad
@veggieman54
Hamby is closed as of 11/9, says “Keep Out Debris Clearing Area”
@andrewgalamb
A beautiful, tight woods course
@crimsontider44
Very wooded with lots of elevation - very technical - probably frustrating for new players but very fun for more experienced players
@caseymason
Unkempt fairways, multiple tee pads need maintenance, and signage did not match pin positions or Udisc distances. Looks like it used to be a decent course that needs local love.
@zacharyolsson
Would be 5 star with better the tee pads, the material isn’t the worst thing in the world they are just not level in some cases which can be dangerous. The overall course is a very creative design and the fairways are very well defined. Only questionable hole was 13 but it was still fun.
@andrewt1365887
Great course. Challenging lanes from white or blue! Beautiful area and lots of other things to do after round.
@npdynamite
I really enjoyed my first round here, definitely will be back. I played the blue tees, definitely technically demanding. I found birdies hard to get not knowing the course, but seemed like there were a lot of birdie opportunities with a little course knowledge. Playing well from the blues will require a variety of shot shapes, but if you can hit your lines off the tee you will do well. Because it's mentioned a lot, I had no issues with the tee pads, at least playing in the dry. I could imagine if you're wearing shoes with a more aggressive tread they could catch a bit, definitely could use more gravel as mentioned. But great course overall, if you're a newer disc golfer I would recommend sticking with the shorts
@chriskl99
Beautiful, wooded, hilly course with holes that require fun shot shaping and accuracy. NOTE: While Fort Hambly’s camping areas are closed for the winter months, the course is still available to play (and it’s free during those months). There is space for parking where the entrance road gate is closed, and from there you can easily start on hole 5 and play 5-18 followed by 1-4, which brings you back to the parking area outside the gated road.
@speeedy
If it had better tee pads it'd be a 4 star
@ljwobker
Almost entirely wooded/technical. Plenty of variety in shape and distance but very little open stuff here. Bring your accuracy. Several blue holes have blind baskets so a spotter helps. Quite a few trees down from the fall'24 storm so some tee pads are out of service. The blues are HARD here, there are lines and they're fair but they are narrow and punishing when you miss. Gets muggy and buggy in the summer.
@gchristas20
Really love the variety of shots on the course. Shorts are very scoreable and longs are a challenge. My biggest gripe has to be the tee pads. Many of them are running out of the pea gravel so they are getting slick or bubbling. Update… tee pads are worse now than ever, it’s such a disservice to this course to not get them fixed. Wilksboro has the chance to be such a cool disc town with the open shots of Pines and the woods here but the tee pads just get frustrating.
@toddmoon
Good course. Shorter holes, with more technical shots.
@tmartnc
Peaceful and wooded. Well designed. The White tees offer birdie opportunities on every hole. The blues are technical and challenging, but nothing to be scared of.
@walkerdixon
Aside from tee pads, the most dern underrated course in all of North Carolina. Hidden gem.
@lucasbillings
This course is a hidden gem. One of the best courses in the area. Tee pads are really the only issue but a lot of work has been put in to make them better.
@durant
Good times, all of Wilkesboro produces good golf
@vankirk
Very woodsy, but well maintained. Great signage. Lots of trees down (6/30/18), but still playable.
