Played Throw for the Soul 3 years now, and it’s an amazingly well put together event! Lots of fun every year. The tournament itself is an easy 5 stars, but the course itself has so much potential that isn’t being put to use. Most of the course is in the rough of the ball golf property, which leaves a lot of tall grass “hazard” in the way. There are some holes (5 and 16 specifically) where the grass is almost completely unavoidable, even on what would seem to be a good tee shot. There are some amazing holes that you won’t find anywhere else (my favorites are 1, 3, 7, and 18), but tall grass and cart paths that define the OB even though you tee off from them make this course hard to enjoy for beginners or in strong winds. Since the course is only available for this tournament and they shut down the property, I and others have been a little disappointed that all holes but hole 1 don’t follow the well-kept fairways of the property, especially with all of the interesting hills and valleys along the ball golf course. I understand why we are kept to the rough as to minimize damage to the golf course, but I and others feel like the amazing landscaping of the property could be used to create some iconic holes you can’t find anywhere else. Thank you to LRDG and everyone who makes this event possible every year, as it is my favorite that I’ve been to. The course itself, while needing a few changes, is still a fun and tricky layout, and I’d recommend the event to anyone.
