About the course

Camp Greilick DGC sits within a property once operated as a Boy Scout camp, serving generations of youth through outdoor adventure and education. The original disc golf layout featured homemade baskets and was casually played by campers for years. In 2019, following the transition to the Greilick Outdoor Recreation & Education Center (GOREC), local disc golfers Travis Peck and Ryan Gemmell created a new 18-hole course. Winding through a section of the property, the layout showcases Northern Michigan’s natural beauty—hilly terrain, fern-covered valleys, and a mix of oaks, maples, and towering pines. Protected by a conservancy easement that limits development, the course was designed to fit naturally into the landscape. Despite the rustic feel, it remains approachable and enjoyable for players of all skill levels, with a moderate hike and a balanced mix of challenge and fun. In 2024, Grand Traverse County acquired the property. Aloft Disc Golf collaborated with original designer Travis Peck to update the course—adjusting select tees and baskets, adding a few new holes, and improving overall flow and playability. The course was refined into a par 54 layout designed to be fun, fair, and accessible to a wide range of players. Camp Greilick’s disc golf course is a true Northern Michigan gem—scenic, accessible, and deeply connected to the land it calls home.
