I was disappointed when I heard they changed to layout to accommodate all the complainers who can’t handle challenging courses. But the new layout was just as fun.

Beacon Hills is becoming a great course with all the change and work that has been done.

Thanks to the Boy Scouts for putting it in, but what a waste of their tremendous efforts and resources. Bridges and stairs and multiple tees / baskets seem good on paper, but the design is horrible. Several tees force you to walk across fairways, some holes cross soccer fields or walking paths, one hole dings you for hitting an outhouse (like mini golf?), some holes are in the middle of forest, some holes throw out of forest into park, and the some holes have no legitimate line other than a thumber. It’s possible the neighborhood people who have adjusted the original design (some good ideas and some very bad) are trying to dissuade outsiders from playing. If so, it’s working. I was here on a beautiful Sunday morning and saw only one family playing (they were searching for a disc and then left). I walked up at 11am to an empty parking lot. It’s a shame because there is a lot of possibilities and space here.

This is a really fun course with plenty of elevated shots. They could definitely use some better teepads, but the signage is really good for it just being laminated pieces of paper. The scenery isn’t anything too special, but the course has plenty of different shots to throw that makes it a worthwhile play.

So arrows showing the way would be nice. Some holes were dirt tee boxes

They made 12 and 13 way easier and made this corse worse with those changes

Not for everyone. Back 9 can be very punishing.

Fun front 9 for beginners. A few holes with a little challenge but not too much. Most holes are pretty open but a few are in wooded areas so best to have a spotter. Back 9 more technical.

Too many holes that are completely blind or luck based. Some holes should be par 4 but are not. Criss cross fairways. Poor flow from hole to hole. Walking through fairways to get to tee pads. Inconsistent tee pads. Good putting course included adds a half star. Could be good with a redesign and many of the same baskets.

The worst designed course I’ve ever played. Front 9 is ok except for hole 6. Back 9 is blind shots into non existent greens. Does every course in SLC need a triple mando?

Pretty muddy this time of year. But pretty fun way to include the trees to make some shots difficult. Beautiful view of the range

A lot has been done to make this course better! Still not my favorite course, but it's not too bad.
