Edible course that I cannot believe I had by myself at 6 o’clock on a Monday in summer. The fairways are very tight but fair and challenging. The baskets are incredible and this deserves to be a top 10 course in New York State. I wish it was in a more populated area, some more people can enjoy this great course.
@vthippylife
The course was tough/ challenging. Have to keep it straight. Which make you a better player due to not rewarding you for throwing off the beaten path
@kurtfranz
A mostly tight, wooded course with good shot shape variety. Tee areas are rough, but wayfinding and layout accuracy are good. Teesigns on every hole are fairly accurate and help understand the shot needed. Plays along the water for a majority of the front 9 and has scenic forested views which makes for a beautiful nature round
@vtoutdoorsman
Tightly wooded, you need to hit your lines. Some funky shot shapes. But overall a decent course.
@jfehrman
Quirky course. Could probably play it with three putters (something straight, stable and flippy). Good place for beginners to learn woods golf.
@tommywraither
Fun course, we really enjoyed the round. Fair with challenge and some length.

2024 Solar Eclipse on hole 16!
@ereebs
This is a great forest course without many frills. Good baskets and great scenery!
@djsuperdock
Barkeater is a very tight, but fun woods golf course. The short but tricky par 4s and 5s are the stand out holes, they are very fun to play. Improved tees and a little bit of maintenance on a couple holes would turn this into an excellent course. The property itself is beautiful and a pleasure to play on.
@wpedigo
Love the course. Tee boxes would be an improvement, but it’s a lovely walk in the woods.
@screvison
Some holes are gimmicky. Rewards tight lines hit. Nice views just needs new/ updated tee signs and better tee pads on some holes. Rough can be really bad on some holes. Clean up is needed in adeas.
@ryanmussell
Great course. There is a visitors Center across the road for families to see while playing. That is now selling Lonestar discs. This will be a struggle if you throw left handed.
@isaacjolson
Personally, I find this to be an exceptional course. The fairways are clearly well kept and I enjoyed almost every hole, aside from a few that are wonky or too short. Sure the teepads aren't perfect, and there are a couple of odd holes, but all that is made up for by the gorgeous forest, lake views and solitary nature of this true woods course. Maybe add some left to right holes? Not LHBH friendly.
@colvinchapman
Some holes have some very tight fairways / dense guardian trees. Some of the tees are pretty rough. Overall great course
@marinox
One of the better courses in the area. Drives landing in rough are punished. Very tight fairways. Only 1 paver t pad otherwise mostly dirt. The good baskets. Great scenery. I would say not beginner friendly but go to Deweyt if need for beginner course nearby.
@timswatek
great course, super well marked. Can jump to 18th hole then parking lot after the 9th hole if you don’t want to play all 18. Classic wooded course, lots of trees and some elevation change. Few Par 5s which is great. Back 9 a bit easier, more open. Might be a bit challenging for beginners
