A very different course that is perfect for just going out and having fun for an unserious hour of disc golf, the back 9 is nonexistent and 2 of the cages on the front 9 are broken, but if your looking for something unique, this is it!
@petehess
I hate giving low ratings to well intended public courses, but I want to make sure people know what they are getting into. This is a beautiful location and a unique opportunity being on the island of Vieques. And I'm going to come play the front 9 again tomorrow... However the 3rd basket looks to have been vandalized (crushed by something???) and the 6th basket is also damaged tho the pole is still standing. Additionally the back 9 doesn't exist for all intents and purposes. There is no way that I could find to get from hole 9 to 10. I tried ...and ended up giving up after about 20 minutes of bushwhacking. Using the Udisc map and GPS I found hole 18 and started walking back, but when I got to hole 17, I was about 40 feet from the basket and could not see it. That's how overgrown the back 9 is. So I gave up on a full 18 and declared victory in my front 9. The front 9 is beautiful. It's flat and open, but you need to understand the wind and avoid a lot of horses and some green iquanas as well so it plays nicely for what they had to work with. I think this should be advertised as a 9 hole course in paradise... The back 9 baskets should be used to replace the damage on the front 9 and any volunteer effort to maintain should focus on keeping the front 9 spectacular, which it is!
@nateheysler
I've been eyeing this course for years. Not the only reason I came to Vieques, but definitely a contributing factor since it's only one of 3 or 4 in the Caribbean. I knew from reviews that the back nine is usually unplayable due to overgrowth, no biggie. That being said, the scenic basket by the water (hole 6) has recently been destroyed by vandalism. Hole 3 basket also has been destroyed. Hole 7 fairway/approach is badly overgrown. Since 8 and 9 are quite a walk and run in the opposite direction of starting holes (with no baskets to even safari back to), you are left with 4 baskets in an open field that is essentially the course. I'll still play it everyday I'm here and love it because it beats throwing in the snow back home, but just wanted to give an honest review for other diehards that check these reviews before planning a vacay.
@evanmack
Hole 1 kinda starts in the middle of the field, but the Front 9 were open and pretty easy to follow along with using UDisc. Back 9 is still unplayable until it gets a mowed. All around fun course, and worth playing while on vacation!
@baldspot
Updated signs, clear tee pads, paths to next tee, not a ton of shade on the front 9 but very open shots, can’t lose a disc. beautiful playing by the ocean and beach, horse piles everywhere so look out! Didn’t play the back 9.
@birdnest
Back 9 very overgrown. Rock and branch hazards will keep you from getting your golf cart through. Good place to lose your discs. Likely doesn't get much play overall., no upkeep.
@braylan
cool course, the wild horses are cool all over the course, but back 9 is unplayable. Udisc is necessary to navigate the course.
@jasond1
Great course. Well kept. Very little traffic other than the horses. Bring mangoes to share with them!
@takeu2school
Awesome course. Island wind is something to contest with on front 9. Only recommendation would be to establish something that marks hole #1 to improve start location. Can easily lose a disc in thicket in several places. Horses everywhere! Pretty great!
@murtiashaw
Great course! Thanks to the local community for maintaining it. Pretty easy to navigate too with the udisc layout.
@heidiheidiheidi
Amazing course, super fun tournament! The views are out of this world and the course is challenging and super interesting!
@jaimesdickerson
love the course, beautiful holes all through out, loved seen f the horses and birds and hole 11 and 15 and the one in the front 9 where you throw down the hill we’re my favorites
@simonmydiamond
Sickest course I’ve ever played
@zacapa
Had a lot of fun wishes I had more time to finish the course definitely coming back. I do wish there was signs
@chippervia
The back nine is unlike any course I’ve ever played — thoroughly worth the trek.
@joshwalters
Fun course design. Changing and strong winds add to the challenge. Jungles off the fairways will eat your discs. Kudos to the locals for upkeep! As of this review the UDisc maps are wrong. Look for short white cylinders for tee markers. Go to Isla Nena Disc Golf FB and download/print the map. Better yet, ask a local on that page to play with you.
@tlynch81
The course was well maintained with very clean fairways. If you miss the fairway, good luck, it's a jungle. Hole 17 is not on the map, but that is because the map skipped 13? I think it was 13 that was skipped on the map. So 16 is actually hole 17 and then a short walk over to 18. No true tee-pads, but the tee areas are easy to throw from.
@ethanaberg97
Great diversity of holes. Absolutely beautiful. Was upkept fine when we visited. Not to mention the only course in all of Puerto Rico. I’ve had the privilege to play many courses all over the US and as an all around experience this is my favorite I’ve ever played. Baskets were in good condition as well. Hope to see the sport grow in Puerto Rico in the future.
@tessah
Extremely rough fairways starting at hole 12 stinging plants everywhere and I got a thousand burrs in my hair. I like making friends on the course and all but a lot of the players just kinda mosied around and ate grass I couldn’t tell if they were looking for a disc or what
