About the course
Important Update 7/20/2025
GREAT NEWS!
Mayor, Mayor Pro Tem, and City Councillors,
I would like to share the following update on the great progress being made on Westminster’s disc golf course at City Park.
The design team, including individuals from the Mile High Disc Golf Club (MHDGC), are currently finalizing the course design. They will then stake the layout so STREAM (our contractual Landscape Architect) can create illustrative graphics. The team anticipates this piece to be ready to share with the community in August.
The team has 12 very good holes routed, each with two basket locations, meaning that the new course will have 24 holes.
Our partners from the MHDGC are taking a little extra time and care to ensure the result is a high-quality, adaptable layout worthy of its home at City Park. Based on current trajectory, the course should be playable by late summer!
I trust this update is helpful and am looking forward to sharing additional details as the work progresses.

City Manager
IMPORTANT Update Feb 25, 2024.
We were able to get this discussion on the planners meeting on Feb 6th. 8 minute viewing will get you caught up. Please support us by contacting the City Council and urging them to reopen the course. Notice the photo of the baskets crying to make them live again before they're gone.
Here is the City Council discussing the course from 32:08 to 43:00.

Update Dec 17, 2023
Very Important: What started as what was thought to be a temporary closure might be permanent as the city says they want to install new trails.
Please, please, contact the city and tell them to not just restore it but use this opportunity to improve it with short vegetation and clearer fairways.

Thank you! Friends of the course.
This 18-hole disc golf course is free to the public. The $30,000 circuit was funded in part by a $15,000 joint venture grant from Jefferson County. Similar to regular golf, disc golf, also known as Frisbee golf, has been around since the 1970s. The game involves throwing a disk or Frisbee at a basket, trying to land your disc in the basket in the fewest number of throws. Each basket, or hole, is assigned a par value like traditional golf.
The city contracted with Denver-based BADCO Disc Golf Club for design of the course, which begins near the City Park Lake, passes the soccer and softball fields and runs along Big Dry Creek. The course offers an average playing difficulty, with longer throwing distances to compensate for fewer trees and water hazards.
