Course name
Sugaree
Course location
Newland, North Carolina
Headline
Heavily wooded, featuring cliffs & boulders on a Christmas tree farm at 4,000 feet elevation. Challenging and strenuous.
Description
Sugaree offers a diverse collection of 30 holes which weave along the contour of Sugar Mountain at 4,000 feet elevation. Boulder outcroppings, cliffs and ledges provide elevated tee pads and precarious basket locations. Most holes are tightly wooded, but the course intersects with our Fraser Fir Christmas tree farm multiple times for an added open component. There are 5 different layouts, but each is a hike that does not loop back to your car until the end of the round, so be prepared. There is water and a porta-john mid-way through your round. Unless you are an extremely fit advanced player you should stick to one of the OG layouts on your first visit. * If you are planning to play other courses in the area; it is best to play Sugaree first, when your legs are fresh.
