A John Ritger designed Championship caliber course located near downtown Atlanta in a 50-acre mixed use City of Atlanta park. Perkerson Park is one of metro Atlanta's most scenic, technical, challenging, longest-length courses with three par 4's and a par 5; Over 7300’ in its longest layout.
Plays through a mature hardwood forest and along a rock-lined stream with hilly terrain. Dual teepads on all but one hole. Every teepad has its own sign. The Short teepads (Red) cater to Recreational and Intermediate skill levels and the Long teepads (Black) cater to Advanced and Professional skill levels. (Tee pad updates are currently being negotiated with the ATL Parks & Rec Dept for 2024 completion)
Fairly navigable directions without using the map but there are a few long transitions across the bridges over the creek due to stream buffer between Holes 4 & 5 and then again between Holes 14 & 15. There are Red & Yellow "Next Tee" wooden signs posted on trees in plain view from each basket.
The course is located at 770 Deckner Ave. Park in the lower gravel lot off the 2nd park entrance. From the gravel lot, walk down the right side of the creek about 300' to the Course Information Kiosk. There is a QR Code on the Information board that has the current layout if UDisc is not updated. There is also a bike rack you can lock your bike to at the kiosk area.
The practice basket is located behind Hole 1's Short teepad; Hole 1's Long teepad is accessed by a stone step trail that heads up the hill a few yards beyond the Course Information Kiosk and tees off from on top of the cliff and back over the headwaters of the South River.
