Course is free to play but there is a $20 per car seasonal parking fee for non-residents (late June to Labor day)
Description
18 hole course established in 2021 by the Cape Cod Disc Golf Club. Each hole has 2 baskets (blue longs and silver shorts). Holes 3, 5, 9, 12, 14 & 18 also have secondary tee pads. Tee pads are raised and made of high quality pavers. Longer holes have 16 ft pads, shorter holes have 12 foot pads.
Designated OB on holes 2, 5, 6, 10, 14, 15, 16, 17 & 18. Oakcrest is an all woods course, thus it takes time for the course to get beat in. We do our best to maintain it. Lots of elevation changes and no two holes are alike. The blue layout can be challenging, especially if you end up off of fairways. The silver layout is more forgiving, but still offers a good challenge. Direction arrows on all baskets indicating where next tee box
Course will eventually have permanent tee signs. Seasonal parking fee of $20 per day from late June to Labor Day annually ..8:30 am to 4 pm. Free to park after 4 pm. Free parking nearby at Sandwich Senior Center…short walk across the field from there to access either holes 12 or 13. We tried to get the seasonal parking fee lowered but didn’t happen. There’s a public beach on the property which requires a town sticker or the $20 fee. Is what it is.
No trash cans on the course. Carry In/Carry Out ..pretty simple philosophy for most. We hope you enjoy the course!

History
Prior to Oakcrest Cove, the Cape had 2 dg courses…18 hole Burgess Park in Barnstable & a 9 hole course at Cape Cod Community College, which was shut down back in 2012 due to vandalism & abuse. A new course was sorely needed as the sport increased in popularity over the years
Oakcrest was proposed to the Town of Sandwich in 2019 by Drew McManus, President of the Cape Cod Discgolf Club. Cape Cod & approved by the Town in 2020
$47,000 in funding from the Sandwich Community Preservation Act was applied for & approved to cover the cost of baskets, tee pad materials & some of the land clearing. Substantial volunteer labor from local players handled all the basket & tee pad installations as well as selective land clearing of nearly half the layout. Easily over $100k in volunteer equity. We also successfully applied for a matching baskets grant from the Discgolf Foundation & received 9 additional baskets. A generous donation from a local benefactor covered the cost of 9 additional baskets for a grand total of 38 baskets (36 layout baskets & 2 practice baskets)
The course has a total of 36 layouts (blue longs & silver shorts). The course layout was designed by a 3 person committee including Drew McManus, Erik Pleso & Brian Harrington….all local players & dedicated volunteers.
While none of us had designed a dg course prior to Oakcrest, the combined experience & skills of this group made for a very effective & thoughtful approach to course design with an emphasis on safety, variety & challenge. The course was added to UDisc & has received mostly positive reviews about the layout, challenge, playability & maintenance
The course is entirely wooded & is set on 15 acres of varying hilly topography…a very unique & unusual terrain for Cape Cod.
Volunteers manage the course & it has grown in popularity every year since it was established & opened in 2021. We are thrilled to have a new course on the Cape & look forward to establishing more courses locally
