History
Established in 2023, this course goes back to the last week of 2021 when Terry and Shawn met to walk the area that is now Dove Creek DGC. It was something that the long time friends and bowling teammates (LEAGUE CHAMPS) had been discussing after Terry found disc golf in early 2021. 2022 was spent walking/talking/lobbying the county and city to allow this project to happen. We had the course designed and once funds were approved, we got to work, opening the front 9 in 2023. This is truly a labor of love as the terrain is demanding, which required lots of help. For a course built by volunteerism, this was very difficult. It was so difficult, moving sand needed for the tee boxes, that we used inspiration from the EU where tee pads are built on wood decks and so we copied that for the back 9 and did not need to move anything but lumber (which is difficult in itself). Spring of 2024 found the front 9 to be completed with signs and all the details it has today. Late 2024 in fall, design started for the back 9, but after a snowy 2025 winter/spring, design was not completed until late spring. With constant work days with a small but powerful crew of OG volunteers Chris Wilson, Will Cable and Vic DiSalvi, the back 9 was officially launched with playable tees and baskets on 7/20/2025. A full completed course with signs and bridges is expected before the end of 2025 with a fully decked out 18 hole course launch in spring of 2026!
