Short, 18 hole ace-run course in a multi-use town park
Description
A short, fun 18 hole course using 4 baskets in a mixed use, town park right in the middle of downtown Windermere. This course is designed to be beginner friendly while allowing for some fun, challenging ace run holes for intermediate and expert level players. Baskets are designated N(orth), E(ast), S(outh), and W(est). This course uses half of the town park and is designed to avoid throwing through the other areas of the park. It is intended to show the town that disc golfers and other park-goers can co-exists and to make use of the otherwise unused areas of the park. Multiple shops, restaurants, a bar, and library are all located within walking distance of the park. Come check out the course, and then stay for the small-town charm.

History
This park had four baskets installed several years ago. Without the town’s knowledge or permission, someone created a course on UDisc in July 2022 that was not mixed-use friendly and in some cases unsafe including holes throwing over the pavilion and through the swing set. In 2025, Ben Gillis contacted the Windermere parks department to inquire about the design of the course and find out what their plans for the baskets were. Meanwhile, the town was making preparations for their centennial celebration and were also trying to decide what to do with the damaged and rusted baskets in the park. After several conversations, the town decided to repair the existing baskets and allow for a course redesign that used half of the park and avoided the playground and pavilion area in an attempt to determine if disc golf could coexist in the same area as the other park amenities. This led to an 18 hole ace run design that incorporated using the existing four baskets and nine tee areas with each tee area being used once for a front nine and then again for a back nine with different targets for each tee pads on the front nine vs the back nine. The redesigned course had a soft opening in the spring of 2025 before the town approved making the course public on UDisc in the summer of 2025. Since opening, the course has seen many players both locally and from around the US play it including several players being introduced to disc golf for the first time. As a short, ace run course, it is the perfect course for an introduction ot disc golf and a great course for a quick stop while on vacation in Central Florida as it is one of the closest courses to many Orlando attractions including our theme parks. It only requires a disc or two to be able to play and for intermediate to professional level players has ace run opportunities on every hole -making it ideal for players of all skill levels.
